Tan Son Nhut Today
C Battery, 6th Battalion, 56th Artillery (HAWK) was stationed on Tan Son Nhut Airbase. C Battery was located at the northwest area of the base close to the ammo dump and Gate 0-55. Tan Son Nhat Air Base was the target of major communist attacks during the 1968 Tet Offensive.
Men of C Battery served as a quick reaction force during the daylight hours and physically maintained the perimeter at Gate 0-58 during the hours of darkness during Tet 1968. The men of C Battery maintained this commitment until they were relieved on 10 February 1968 by an Armored Calvary unit.
